As some of you may have noticed, I didn’t upload an August TBR, and the reasoning behind that is because there wasn’t any particular book I sought out to read this month. I feel as though, it was a “mood reading month”, which means I read books when I was in the mood for them, and depending on my mood, I would choose the book I felt like reading.

I also want to explain the reason why I haven’t read as many books this month as I have previous, and it’s not just the reading mood I was in. I have taken a lot of thought into consideration of how I want my lifestyle to change, especially going back to college. So, I’ve really taken this month to really try and discover more of myself, especially after I have fully gone into recovery for my eating disorder.

I write this little note to you, to give you some outlook upon my life, but also to give you reassurance that it’s okay to read a small number of books if it so happens, that either you were busy or were in a reading slump, It’s okay to not read as many books because as long as you were fulfilling something else in your life, it doesn’t matter.

I included the rating I gave these books, and I don’t plan on giving all these books a book review but if there’s a book you want me to review or hear more about, comment below!

I, unfortunately, was disappointed with this novel and went into with higher expectations. I did love the writing style, and it was fairly fast paced. I have written a review about it, listed under the Book Reviews tab, so if you’re interested in knowing my thoughts about it, go check it out!

Summary: This is a Jane Eyre retelling, told in a gothic fashion. It has the orphan Jane Eyre, aspiring writer Charlotte Brontë, and supernatural investigator Alexander Blackwood, drawn together in an epic ghost hunt.

Nightingale by Amy Lukavics

I have received an arc copy for this book, and unfortunately, I didn’t like it very much. It was confusing and underwhelming. I have written a review on this book so if you’re interested in knowing more, go check it out under the Book Review tab!!

Summary: June Hardie isn’t the model girl for what she should be for the 1950’s, independent and rebellious. She dreams to become a writer and attend college, but her parents have other plans; they want her to become a housewife, and marry a businessman. But when June’s mind takes control, she’s admitted to an institution where every deep fear and darkest secrets come alive, she must figure out what reality is and isn’t in order to save herself and everyone else who lives there.

Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson

downloadRating: 3.5 stars

This was a really unique book about witchcraft and mystery. I also did enjoy the writing style in this novel, I loved how the dialogue was quite realistic and how it was still very detailed. However, I felt that the reveal of the murderer was obvious from the halfway point, maybe a little sooner so I feel that the execution of that was lacking. I would still recommend this book because it was still enjoyable to read about these characters lives and the twist of the undead.

Summary: Mila and Riley have been inseparable, especially while making time for amateur witchcraft. Until Riley and two other girls end up dead,  and Mila believes that this wasn’t intentional. She attempts to raise Riley from the dead but ends up waking up all three of them, but none of them remember what happened and have only seven days to uncover the truth.
